Handling device or internetgatewaydevice?

Does GenieACS have a way to abstract away the device root? I want to affect:

$DEVICE.ManagementServer.URL

And don’t really want to know whether $DEVICE is Device. (TR-181) or InternetGatewayDevice. (TR-098). Is there a way to do that?
