If you're adding a lot of new devices at once, then yes this is to be
expected. There's a one time fetching of the entire device data model
so performance should go back to normal after the initial burst.

You can try the master branch though (not yet stable). It won't
automatically fetch the entire data model on first contact so you
should get better performance during that initial period.
